Wow – another roller coaster of a Grant Awards Night! With a room full of guests, we trialled a new format, mingling more freely with each other and our finalists, listening intently to powerful presentations, placing our precious voting pebbles in the jars of worthy recipients and then eagerly awaiting the final results.
Firstly, the most important information:
We are delighted to report that the following three organisations and their proposed initiatives were collectively chosen by all attending donors (and several proxy votes). Each will receive one of our $100,000 Primary Grants:
Gosnells Community Legal Centre – Specialist Child Support Legal Clinic
Lionheart Camp for Kids – Raw to Roar: Lionheart’s Grief Pathway Pilot
Orana House – SWitCH on, Power Up – Supporting Women in the Community Holistically
They will all now have the funds and two years to bring these inspiring proposals to life. Check out this page for more details on them.
We can’t wait to see the IMPACT they will have!
But that’s not all folks…
By the afternoon of the event, we had received sufficient collective donations to know that we would definitely be making the three Primary Grants of $100,000, but there was almost nothing left in the coffers for the remaining two finalists.
Luckily, our call for extra support on the night was heard loud and clear!
As the invited guests of our donors listened to the inspiring pitches, they too felt compelled to be part of making a difference and used the QR codes to sign up as donors themselves, receive the bag of voting pebbles and place them in their chosen jars.
That enabled us to reach enough for grants of $10,000 for our other two worthy finalists. A nice recompense for the time and effort that they have put into bringing their proposals to us over the last few months.
And then, to really put the icing on the cake, one of our existing donors, moved by the need that had been demonstrated, generously pledged an additional $5,000 for each of the runners up!
So ADHD WA and CinefestOZ will each receive $15,000 in untied funding that they can use however they see fit.
